Literary fete held to promote Telugu

Students don the role of renowned personalities

To promote Telugu language among children, the Haritha Ecological Institute organised a literary fete called ‘Balala Bhuvana Vijayam’ at Haritha School, situated on the premises of the institute in Palvancha, on Sunday.

A host of literary activities including Padya Avadhanam, Dattapadi and recitation of poems marked the event, which was held a day ahead of Ugadi, the Telugu New Year Day.

Schoolchildren from different parts of the district including a few from the far flung Charla mandal took part in the event.

They donned the roles of renowned Telugu literary personalities such as Nannaya, Tikkana, Errana, Dasarathi and Karunasri as part of a cultural show, highlighting the glory of Telugu language. The students enacted a scene from Bhuvana Vijayam, the court of Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya, the chief patron of Telugu language and culture.

This apart, schoolchildren enlightened the audience about the distinguished personalities from various spheres including literature, science and technology by donning their roles. They excelled in Avadhanam and other literary events by promptly replying to a volley of questions posed by subject experts related to Telugu language, its genesis and evolution.

Haritha Association for Learning from Environment founder P. Sudhakar, secretary P. Usha Rani, noted Telugu poet and author Chigurumalla Srinivas and others were present.
